Tarsiset

Time period - 5 million A.D.

Habitat - Amazonian Pampas

A small galago-like tarsier-like descendant of the common marmoset that lives in trees that are scattered across the Amazonian grasslands and is among the last new world monkeys alongside its much larger neighboor, the babookari. The tarsiset is almost entirely carnivorous and mainly feeds on insects, spiders, scorpions, and even smaller vertebrates, but can occasionally feed on fruits and, even rarely, leaves, to supplement its diet. Unlike its marmoset ancestors, the tarsiset has evolved to be primarily nocturnal, as opposed to being diurnal, much like the now-extinct owl monkeys, to avoid competition from other small tree-dwelling carnivores and can leap far in a fashion similar to tarsiers and galagos. Due to the trees, in which it lives in, being scattered across the landscape, the tarsiset has evolved to be extremely fast much like elephant shrews of Africa, in order to quickly find more trees to inhabit to hunt arboreal prey.
