The Mamopi (Loxodaffa Okapia) is an ancient civilization of creatures that once existed on the planet Aora back during the Thycene Period. Although surviving the longest of the ancient races on the planet, evolving into the Industrial Age of civilization, they too became extinct thanks to the following Ice Age, the species itself not adapted to such cold temperatures, and couldn't adapt fast enough.

Biology[]

Their legs end in wide feet to spread their weight along the soft ground, and light stripes running down their backs as a means of camouflage within the undergrowth. Their eyes, while appearing Earthly, have three pupils that fuse together into one. Their mouths evolved into a prehensile trunk as their main means of manipulation, the appendage itself made up of flexible muscles. In a simpler summery, they strongly resembled the ancient Macrauchenia of South America.

Mamopi as a species are, while tall compared to a normal Human Being, are actually the smallest in their family group, as their size is an adaptation to travel through the denser forests and jungles where its larger relatives can't. Their ancestors from the main family group of Eleraffes evolved higher intelligence to combat against the much larger predators the Mamopi often faced. On evolving this higher intelligence, the species left their natural habitats and began adapting to more opened spaces as their populations grew.

Archeology[]

As an herbivorous species as their core, Traditional Mamopi homes were made up of the trees themselves, with the chieftain's hut being a hollowed-out tree hole much of the time. Their tools were simplistic, mainly made up of thickened roots with rocks tied to the ends in specific shapes for their needs. Farmlands are highly common in Mamopi settlements, the species becoming experts of farmland labore, and plant growth.

In their industrial age, these traits would be amplified: simple farmlands turned into complex, controlled greenhouses that provided their populations with food, and many of their homes now were grown from scratch in genetically modified plant life: a presidential Mamopi for example would grow a colossal tree as their main capitol, complete with knothole-shaped windows and Tree-Hollow doorways. As for their tools, these became also genetically modified plants that they would grow for entertainment and farm work.

Society[]

Evolving for up to 650,000 years, over twice as long as Humanity itself, one would expect them to be highly advanced in comparison. However, unlike Humanity, the Mamopi People were herbivorous in nature, meaning that the complications of having to hunt for their food and the proteins of meat to increase the brain size were absent, making the advancements of the Mamopi much slower. Regardless though, the Mamopi people evolved into a similar state as Humanity for a time.

  • The Tribal Mamopi people lived within their ancient homelands of Morota in isolated forest tribe lands. These tribes were once a widespread ideology on Morota, but as the species advanced, they've dwindled into a few isolated areas of natural forests. These tribes have a spiritual connection with their planet, some individual shamans developing a language between them and the plants that the Mamopi refer to as "Florescese". Tribes of Mamopi would often paint themselves in mud and dirt, into markings of either superiority, or to better blend in with the environment when gathering food.
  • The Industrial Mamopi on the other hand had abandoned much of the tribal ways as they had no need to defend themselves against predators in their worldwide civilization, or at the very least didn't see them as a need to survive. Instead, much of their culture revolved around ecological studies. Ironically though, their greenhouses and farmlands began to change the world in a negative way, as native ecosystems were replaced with genetically modified flora. Tribal Mamopi strongly rejected this approach, as it went against the traditions of the Mamopi people.
