The Arabian Peninsula, or simply Arabia, is a peninsula of Western Asia situated northeast of Africa on the Arabian plate has remained the same. Despite this, many species still thrive.

  • The Arabian red fox, Vulpes vulpes arabica, a subspecies of the red fox native to the Arabian Peninsula. Same species alive today.
  • The Blanford's fox, Vulpes cana, a small species of fox native to the Middle East and Central Asia. Same species alive today.
  • The Wagner's gerbil, Dipodillus dasyurus, a species of rodent native to the Nile Delta, the Sinai, Syria, Iraq and the Arabian Peninsula. Same species alive today.
  • The Balochistan gerbil, Gerbillus nanuns, a species of rodent native to Morocco across north Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, the Middle East and western Asia. Same species alive today.
  • The Arabian tahr, Arabitragus jayakari, a species of tahr native to eastern Arabia. After humans died out, the Arabian tahrs recovered and spread across the Arabian peninsula. Same species alive today.
  • The Arabian oryx, Oryx leucoryx, a species of oryx that is native to desert and steppe areas of the Arabian Peninsula. After humans died out, the Arabian oryx had recovered and spread across the Arabian Peninsula once more. Same species alive today.
  • The Arabian gray wolf, Canis lupus arabs, a subspecies of gray wolf which lives on the Arabian peninsula. It is the smallest sized wolf subspecies known. After humans went extinct, the Arabian wolf had recovered and spread across the Arabian Peninsula. It's the ancestor of several descendants. Same species alive today,
  • The Arabian leopard, Panthera pardus nimr, a subspecies of leopard native to the Arabian Peninsula. After humans died out, the Arabian leopard has regain is territory after conservation efforts payed off. Same species alive today.
  • The hamadryas baboon, Papio hamadryas, a species of baboon native to the Horn of Africa and the southwestern tip of the Arabian Peninsula. Same species alive today.
  • The Arabian meerkat, Suricata suricatta arabica, a descendant of that spread to Asia from Africa. They are similar to their ancestors.
  • The Arabian mongoose, Herpestes arabicus, a descendant of Indian grey mongooses that migrated to the Arabian Peninsula and grew larger, about the size of a black bear.

  • Al Khali Ostrich (Struthio molybdophanes arabicus): A descendent of the Somali ostrich, the al khali ostrich is actually quite small with large specimens growing up to 8.3 feet and regulars usually 6-7.
