The Aira (I-rah) is a highly advanced Civilization that originated from the planet of Aora.

The Aira, although impossible to tell when seeing them from the outside, still possess numerous features that link them to their prehistoric ancestors. The bodies of the Aira actually are quite small, in spite of their typical modern appearances towering over Humans: only four feet tall at maximum height. The skeletons of an Aira reveal miniscule limbs, but due to misuse over millions of years, these limbs are completely useless and non-visible on the body from the outside. Most of the skeleton is made up of a reinforced skull-like structure, which fused a number of the Aira's spinal bones to create a strengthened bony helmet to protect its delicate organs.
Their eyes are forward-facing, though no visible mouth can be observed on the body in part thanks to their highly evolved organs providing them with an almost indefinite source of energy. Although over 50% of its body is made up of its brain, the true key to its longevity is its two hearts. The hearts of an Aira are connected to the brain, the second heart fusing with it, allowing the nutrient-rich blood to directly flow through the organ, and as such enhancing its mental capabilities beyond any normal Human.
Its digestion system developed an absorption property, in which soft-bodied foods such as nectars and jellies, are easily absorbed into the skin and directly into the stomach, and upon finishing digestion the nutrients is directly released into the bloodstream. Defecation isn't needed for this species, as all nutrients is digested within their bodies, and used regardless of state of decay. Any non-digestible material is simply rejected by the body and released out through the skin such as bones or inorganic material, and they are incapable of directly digesting raw meats and hardened foods unless grounded up into a paste first. This is solved thanks to their water-like orbs created by their naturally secreted slime, which allowed swifter digestion of solid foods, though they are capable of controlling this effect as to not indirectly harm other races.

In their current state, the Aira can easily be classified as a high Type 2 civilization, though some lesser races label them as Type 3 due to their advanced state. As Aira don't possess any limbs, they rely primarily on direct telekinetic ability to manipulate their environment, and focused levitation to allow them to move about freely. With this in mind, Architecture of the Aira have little use for necessities like stairs and roads, building cities in the skies without any means for any terrestrial creature to reach them. For millions of years though, technology advanced at a steady pace, most tools used by the Aira requiring their minds to control rather than any appendages.
Despite their natural levitation, most of the time the Aira are seen within what they call "Artificial Bodies": a structure that is controlled through a platform that the Aira would remain on. These bodies are built for multiple purposes, be it for functional means such as jobs, or for basic casual affairs or for pleasure-seeking. The main factor for these though is to provide less straining on the Aira's telekinetic brains, allowing them to mentally control their bodies without needing to focus on levitating themselves as these bodies have their own levitational properties when activated. Many of these also came with sensory sticks that act as fingers, which some species mimicked with inspired reasoning.
By modern times, the Aira had mastered the art of space travel: building complicated spaceships with warp key engines that allowed for intergalactic space travel through dozens of star systems within their galactic empire.
Society[]
Having millions of years of history to their name, Aira civilization developed and evolved beyond any race before or since on Aora. They had developed into a Human-like civilized structure millions of years before Humans ever even existed on their home planet. Like any civilization, this was a long process, and the Aira changed the world in numerous ways to suite their own needs, which sadly resulted in a number of extinctions and domestications of their home species. By the time their kind reached industrialization, however, they began seeing the signs left by The Ancients, seeing the previous races in form of the Penguinfolk among other things. This opened their eyes to the fragility of life, and they began transforming themselves to protect nature rather than destroy it.
In current times, the modernized Aira developed a society of conservation and ecological study, all which sprung from a newfound respect for all life on and beyond their world. They strive to study other lifeforms elsewhere, catalogue various star systems and historicize planetary history as best they could. As for other sapient races, they will share their knowledge and wisdom to in hopes they will also advance in preserving the life in the galaxy.
