Hi, I actually had a motivation spree some time ago, which made me sort of write script for this project which resembles the Mammalia one and also have a clade evolving into birds. One thing though - I ended up coming with alternate way to create big insects and ended up diverging them from the actual insects around Devonian period. After bunch of events described in project's history I got to aftermath of K-T extinction and what I got is about 6 different clades living alongside the actual insects. These clades through convergent evolution look like sized-up fusions of different insect clades. The name "Arteminsecta" is actually an amalgam from "air regulating insects" as I made up a handful of adaptations which sort of justify how they got so big - it is not a super scientific project.
Since I now have big almost-insects and a timespan of similar length to what mammals had in order to diversify. I decided to plan up what arteminsect might evolve into what bird, while also resembling some kind of normal insect. Here is what I came up with so far:
Albatrosses = sea skaters
Blackbirds = ants
Burrowing owls = mole crickets
Cardinals = ladybugs
Condors = carrion beetles
Cranes = crane flies
Cuckoos = cuckoo wasp
Ducks = diving beetles
Eagles = hornets
Falcons = ladybugs
Finches = fruit flies
Flamingos = brine flies
Galapagos cormorant = sea skaters
Geese = pygmy mole crickets
Guineafowl = ground beetles
Hawk = tarantula hawks (wasps)
Heron = water bugs
Hoatzins = grasshoppers
Hoopoes = bombardier beetle
Hummingbird = hummingbird hawk moth
Jacanas = pond skaters
Jays = blue shieldbugs
Junglefowl (chickens) = forest cockroaches
Kestrels = ladybugs
Kingfishers = damselflies
Kites = dragonflies
Kookaburras = earwigs
Larks = cicadas
Lyretails = mayflies
Mockingbirds = horse flies
Nightingales = crickets
Nightjars = moths
Ospreys = dragonflies
Oxpeckers = mosquitoes
Owls = fireflies
Parakeets = halictid bees
Parrots = halictid bee
Peacocks = stick insects
Pelicans = bulldog ants
Penguins = antarctic midges
Pigeons = lacewings
Pheasants = hissing cockroaches
Robins = assassin bugs
Quails = cave crickets
Quetzal = halictid bees
Ratites = grasshoppers
Roadrunners = tiger beetles
Sandpipers = antlions
Shrikes = praying mantises
Sparrows = grain weevils
Swallows = damselflies
Swans = backswimmers
Tinamous = aphids
Toucans = katydids
Weaver birds = termites
I will take about week or two or even three to work on the project itself so the modern species will not be created so soon. As such you are free to comment on whatever would make better sense to become what as well as suggest any bird and insect equivalent to join those above. To clarify, they will actually be just arteminsects evolving into certain insects and then their bird counterparts - which is why it isn't the actual Project:Insecta unfortunately. I am also still working on distinctions of what each post-Cretaceous arteminsecta clade will look like so that's why they aren't mentioned yet.
The hummingbird ones are actually the real hummingbird moths only they have a chance to diverse a bit more further in this project.
